  • The Loire, Europe’s last unspoilt river

From Béhuard to Bouchemaine and on to La Daguenière, you’ll be cycling along the banks of the River Loire, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. On the way, you’ll see Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire and its horticultural centre, then Les Ponts-de-Cé, an old port that is proud of its title of “Daughter of the Loire”, before reaching the charming village of La Daguenière on the banks of the river.

    Don’t miss
Sainte-Gemmes-sur-Loire: nicknamed the “Flower of the Loire” because there are few places in Anjou with so many greenhouses, nurseries and vegetable gardens. Visit the Vicarage Garden (Jardin du Presbytère), a succession of flower-decked terraces with a breathtaking view of the Loire.
Ile aux chevaux: one of the largest islands in the Loire in the “county” of Maine-et-Loire.
Les Ponts-de Cé: visit the castle keep built in the 15th century by King René, now home to the headwear and traditions museum.
