When it gets cold in Angers, there’s only one thing to do: warm up over a nice hot chocolate in a cosy location. The colder it gets outside, the better it tastes! Here’s a guide to our favourite hot chocolates in Angers to combat those winter blues. The perfect thing for an afternoon treat with friends, a romantic moment with your other half, or after a long walk around Angers city centre.
Et Le Temps s’est Art et Thé
In a cosy atmosphere in the heart of Angers city centre, Et Le Temps s’est Art et Thé is the perfect place for chocolate lovers. So yes there might be the word ‘tea’ in the name of the place, but, rest assured die-hard hot chocolate lovers, you have come to the right place. They serve a thick and intensely flavoured hot chocolate that is quite simply a delight. Several flavours are available including extra-dark, marshmallow or, our favourite, the Phoenix hot chocolate. Why do we love this one? It has three varieties of pepper in it (we promise it won’t set you on fire), which have been subtly added to enhance the chocolate taste.

At Carine and Nadège’s tea room, you will feel right at home. Enticing aromas escape from the oven and make your stomach rumble. You will be able to choose from a selection of carefully prepared sweet things that changes every day, like praline-filled chocolate cake or pink praline brownies. And for the ultimate chocolate experience, there’s nothing better than a hot chocolate to go with whatever you have chosen. Here, you get a chocolate lolly (different flavours are available) that you delicately stir into your mug of steaming milk, et voilà votre chocolate chaud! It’s fun and delicious and will definitely make you smile.

When you walk past Les Pâtisseurs, you won’t be able to resist the beautiful looking pastries and other “modern day treats” that bedeck this patisserie’s window. Each is more tempting than the next, so it’s no surprise that you’ll want to step into the warmth of its tearoom to taste one, accompanied by a delicious hot chocolate topped with whipped cream, of course. And the cherry on the cake, or icing on the cupcake, is that even the service is friendly and attentive. We bet you won’t want to leave! Or at least that you’ll want to come back for a delicious Sunday brunch.
