Swimming spots in Angers and around

When the thermometer rises, finding a place to cool down becomes essential! Here is our selection of places to go for a splash around in Angers.

 

Even in Angers, which is reputed for its temperate climate, temperatures can sometimes top 30 degrees. To avoid melting like a sorbet left out in the sun, head for one of the many swimming spots in Angers and around. You won’t have to endure the never-ending traffic jams that you can encounter when driving to the Atlantic coast. Just grab your swimming things and jump in!

Parc de Loisirs du Lac de Maine, Angers

Just five minutes by car from Angers town centre, the Lac de Maine is perfect for those who don’t want to travel far. You can swim in perfect safety, picnic, go for walks or go sailing. There’s something for everyone to enjoy. Don’t forget to take your charcoal along if you want to use the park’s barbecues.

Bus services: Line 6 (alight at Lac de Maine Nautique) or Line 11 (alight at Pérussaie)

Villevêque beach

Cool down in the pretty town of Villevêque, in the Basses Vallées Angevines. While splashing in the water, you will be able to admire the beautiful water mill just a few metres away. If you like to read while sunbathing, there is an outdoor library with free books you can borrow. In 2022, the bathing area will be supervised from 2 July to 28 August, check the schedule.

Parc des Sablières, Écouflant

Just a few minutes from Angers, you can enjoy the lake at the Parc des Sablières, with its fine sand, beach, shaded areas under the trees, play area for kids, fitness area, barbecues and picnic tables. Parc des Sablières is the ideal place for families; bathing is supervised from mid June to the end of August.

 

Baignade de l'île du Château

On the banks of the Loire, a few metres from the river, the large 3000 m3 pool of the Ponts-de-Cé bathing area is a great place to get into the water and cool off when the weather is hot! A large lawn allows you to sunbathe peacefully. If you prefer action, you will enjoy the big slide more !

 

Aquavita, Angers

Enjoy a trip to Aquavita in Angers, a 5,000 sq. metre swimming pool and water park complex. Those who like to slip and slide around can get their thrills on the rapids, slide and flume. And for those who want to unwind, there is a balneotherapy area with hydromassaging jets, bubble beds, counter current flow, geyser and jacuzzi bench. Finally, for little ones, you’ll find a shallow pool heated to 31°C which is great for their first taste of swimming.
