Le Bistrot de l'écluse

Located in La Membrolle, in the little town of Longuenée-en-Anjou, this lock house is a real piece of local history. Facing the Mayenne, between Angers and Château-Gontier, there was a large mill and important milling activity here, the buildings of which were destroyed by fire in 1918. It's hard to imagine the ballet of barges when contemplating the calm panorama of today. This haven of peace, where fishermen, cyclists and walkers meet on the towpath, now houses a bistro. The pretty lock house offers a superb terrace with a pretty room, along with a small grocery store, a dormitory for four people for cyclists and a guest room with view of the Mayenne. There's a selection of wines, beers and fruit juices, as well as snacks with cheeses and charcuterie. Carole Thibault, the manager, has chosen her organic local products with care for gourmet breaks during the day or at drinks time.
